FC Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong said his team were "clearly the best" in LaLiga this year as the Catalan giants won their second-straight title.

FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-0 on Sunday evening to win back-to-back LaLiga titles. Claiming the championship in El Clásico meant something more to Frenkie de Jong, who played 27 minutes in the derby.

"All titles are special. But this one is a little more so, because you beat Real Madrid at home,” De Jong told Movistar after the title celebrations.

De Jong, 28, said this title belonged to Barcelona, who have been dominant by winning 30 of 35 games so far and scoring 91 goals along the way: "Every title should be celebrated, especially a title you've fought for all year. And this year we were clearly the best."

Special words for Flick

Prior to Sunday's game, a minute's silence was held for the father of Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who passed away on Saturday evening.

De Jong shared some words for Flick, whom he called "very important".

"He has clear ideas about football and gives us a lot of freedom to demonstrate our qualities on the pitch."

De Jong, who's being eased back into the side following a hamstring injury, has played 24 games in LaLiga for Barcelona this season, scoring one goal and assisting five.
