FC Midtjylland have been given a boost with news that injured Mikel Gogorza could make a shock return to first-team action as soon as September despite recent reports he was set for a long spell on the sidelines with persistent hip and groin injuries.

Earlier this month, Midtjylland coach Mike Tullberg admitted that the 19-year-old was to be missing 'indefinitely' from his side; however, sources close to the situation have revealed to Flashscore that Gogorza's injuries were misdiagnosed and treated incorrectly over a long period of time.

This has now changed, and Gogorza is 'on the verge of playing again'.

In his young career, the Danish under-19 international has made 67 appearances for the Wolves since breaking into the team in 2024, scoring nine goals and assisting a further 11.

He has a contract with the club until 2029, but hasn't featured in a competitive game since May. Midtjylland are unbeaten in their first three league games of the season, gaining seven points.

They are just one step away from another season in Europe, facing Rijeka in a two-legged play-off for a chance to make the Conference League proper, which begins in September.
