14:25 CET - On his 300th appearance for Villarreal, Gerard Moreno has celebrated the landmark with a fine goal to open the scoring against Rayo Vallecano. The 33-year-old beat his man with a tight turn, before firing his shot into the far corner past the dive of the goalkeeper. 

The biggest game from the five 15:30 CET kick-offs in the Bundesliga sees Stuttgart travel to RB Leipzig. The pair sit third and fourth respectively in the table, and know they must win if they are to keep pace with the freight train that is Bayern Munich.

14:02 CET - We are underway between Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga, whilst it is Udinese and Atalanta who get things going in Serie A this afternoon from 15:00 CET.

It's been an interesting start to life under Ivan Juric for the club from Bergamo. After nine league games, they are unbeaten, but seven draws has limited them to only ninth in the table.

They take on Rayo Vallecano this afternoon from 14:00 CET, who themselves are in hot form, having won their last three league games.

11:30 CET - Some breaking news coming in this morning from Serie A, where 17th-placed Genoa have sacked manager Patrick Vieira ahead of their game against Sassuolo on Monday.

Genoa have yet to win in nine games to start the campaign, picking up three draws and losing six.

They have yet to name a replacement.
