Holger Rune, as well as August Holmgren and Elmer Moller, have been selected for the Danish squad that will take on Carlos Alcaraz and Spain in Davis Cup on 13 and 14 September in Marbella.

"It is one of the biggest and most exciting matches in Danish Davis Cup history. I may be a bit too young to really know what it was like in the 50s and 60s, and the 90s team had some good runs. But it seems like this is the first time we can compete against a big nation like Spain, which has one of the world's best players," says Davis Cup captain Frederik Lochte Nielsen.

He has re-elected the squad that earlier this year won the Davis Cup Qualifiers 1st round. The team consists of Holger Rune (ATP: 9), Elmer Moller (ATP: 111), August Holmgren (ATP: 187), Christian Sigsgaard (ATP: 505) and Johannes Ingildsen (ATP double: 134).

"We have an incredibly good team. As we have said the last few times, it is possibly the best Danish Davis Cup team ever. They are good boys who support each other and have good team spirit. It is a pleasure to be together all of them," says Frederik Løchte Nielsen.

Spain has already selected its team, which will try to beat Denmark over five matches in two days. The Spanish captain and former top player David Ferrer has got all the big guns at his disposal for the battle for a place among the world's eight best nations.

World number two Carlos Alcaraz is joined by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP: 18), Pedro Martinez (ATP: 66) and world number nine in doubles Marcel Granollers.
