Metcalf will now miss the rest of the regular season and will see $45 million in guaranteed money be voided throughout his contract, $25 million of which would come in 2026. He will also be fined $555,556 across the final two games of the season.
The suspension came after a video captured Metcalf punching a fan on the sidelines during Sunday's matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Multiple reports said that the fan had been heckling Metcalf the entire game and called him by his government name, which is what supposedly sent him over the edge.
The 28-year-old is the Steelers' leading receiver this season with 850 yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions (99 targets). No other wide receiver on the Steelers' roster has more than 320 yards or 30 receptions this season - leaving a major hole in their offence as they fight with the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North division.
Metcalf signed a four-year, $132 million deal with the Steelers after the team acquired him in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks before the season.
Pittsburgh (9-6) will face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 28th.
