Bafana Bafana need a win to stand any chance of going to the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, and will feel they have enough quality to do so.
But with the pressure on, it is never quite that simple and here are five Rwanda players they will have to watch.
FIACRE NTWALI (KAIZER CHIEFS, SOUTH AFRICA)
The Kaizer Chiefs coaching staff did Bafana no favours by selecting goalkeeper Ntwali for their Carling Knockout Last 16 fixture earlier this month, potentially playing the gloveman into form as he had a good outing. It was his first appearance for the side since November 2024. Like Washington Arubi for Zimbabwe, Ntwali will have plenty of personal reasons to prove a point and put in a match-winning, or saving, display. He will know many of these Bafana Bafana players from the South African PSL.
BONHEUR MUGISHA (EL MASRY, EGYPT)
The defensive midfielder is an excellent shield for the back line and will be a player Bafana need to get the betetr of if they are to break down their opponents. The 25-year-old has plenty of experience from playing in Libya, Tunisia and now most recently Egypt with El Masry. He has been a key part of the national team for the last three years.
ABEDDY BIRAMAHIRE (ES SETIF, ALGERIA)
The left winger is a bag full of tricks, but has had something of a journeyman career in recent times. Current club ES Setif is his 10th team since 2018 as he has failed to find a settled home. He is more a creator of goals than a scorer, both his two international goals came back in 2017, but Bafana will have to keep him under wraps if selected as he can punish them from wide areas. He has started the season well with Setif and did get a goal for them in August.
INNOCENT NSHUTI (ES ZARZIS, TUNISIA)
Nshuti is a well-travelled forward who currently plies his trade for Tunisian topflight side ES Zarzis. He has a habit of scoring important goals and found the back of the net when Rwanda defeated Bafana 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in November 2023. He also has recent goals in wins over Benin and Nigeria, so is likely the dangerman up front for the visitors. He has also spent time playing in the United States and for FK Sabail in Azerbaijan.
JOJEA KWIZERA (RHODE ISLAND FC, UNITED STATES)
Midfielder Kwizera was born in the DR Congo, has spent much of his life in the United States and represents Rwanda at international level. He currently plays for second-tier side Rhode Island, but has played a significant part in this campaign for Rwanda, scoring against Lesotho both home and away. He was previously at Canadian MLS side CF Montreal but did not earn a regular spot before moving to Rhode Island.
