Solbakken was well aware of the many limitations of the training facility and therefore approached the then technical director, Johan Lange, who is now the sporting director at Tottenham.
"I put Johan Lange on that case together with Daniel Rommedahl back in 2016-2017. There, I made Johan the prime mover to drive the process. We are now at the end of 2025. Johan is at Tottenham, Rommedahl is at Hillerod, I am on the Norwegian national team, and nothing has been done. That is because the owners do not want to. If they wanted to, they would have started the process," says Solbakken to Bold.dk
Solbakken is confident that the failure to improve training facilities has set back FC Copenhagen significantly, with most of their opponents having taken great strides in improving facilities for staff and players.
Solbakken can't help wondering how far FC Copenhagen would have come if the owners had invested in better training facilities instead of transferring profits from stock options into their own bank accounts.
"As Scandinavia's largest club, Erik Skjaerbaek and Lars Seier have to dig into their pockets. If instead of taking out money in dividends every year, they had spent the money on building a training facility, then things would have been in place soon."
FC Copenhagen will be in action on Sunday when they face Sonderjyske in the Parken Stadium.
