Tottenham Hotspur are using this week to step up their 2026 recruitment discussions, with club insiders describing it as the beginning of a new era of squad investment aimed at closing the gap on the Premier League’s elite.

Following a promising start to life under manager Thomas Frank, it is understood Tottenham’s hierarchy are preparing for a rebuild across several positions. There is an expectation for a £100million investment that will boost the squad depth and quality.

The club are determined to add more firepower and while they have attacking targets primed - with Antoine Semenyo among their leading names - other options are going to open up.

They need to decide how to approach his situation and also whether to aim for a central striker.

Discussions around other specific targets are to intensify as the club looks to position itself for decisive moves.

It is understood that Tottenham are not expecting Semenyo to be available in January unless Bournemouth soften their stance on his valuation, which could reach close to £100million.

Tottenham’s next phase of planning reflects a new level of financial ambition. Following the departure of long-serving chairman Daniel Levy, the club’s fresh ownership direction is expected to trigger significant spending. However, officials insist Spurs will remain disciplined in the market and will not overpay.

While the attacking line is a clear area of focus, Tottenham are also preparing to discuss potential around both a goalkeeper and left-sided defender.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are pleased with the impact of Joao Palhinha, who has flourished since joining from Bayern Munich, so they look well placed to make his loan move permanent. The German side are not expected to stand in the way of a transfer.

The message from the club is clear that this is the beginning of a new, ambitious phase designed to put Spurs among the Premier League’s top contenders.
