From Florian Wirtz to Viktor Gyokeres, the summer transfer window is usually dominated by blockbuster deals. But there’s also an interesting secondary market, where shrewd signings and quiet career revivals are made.

Here are seven summer moves that slipped under most radars but could make a real impact.

Rhian Brewster

Sheffield United to Derby County (free agent)

Hoping he can reignite his career, Rhian Brewster has signed a two-year deal with Derby.

The former Liverpool youngster left Anfield for Sheffield United in 2020, but struggled to make a proper impact after his £23.5 million move.

Despite making 199 total appearances for the Blades, Brewster managed just nine goals in five years.

A former Golden Boot winner with England U17s, still aged just 25, the striker could get things going again at Pride Park.

Oli McBurnie

Las Palmas to Hull City

Oli McBurnie raised a few eyebrows when he moved to Las Palmas last summer, but he's now returned to the UK.

He scored just three times for Los Amarillos in La Liga last term and joined Hull following their relegation to the second tier of Spanish football.

McBurnie, who represented Scotland between 2018 and 2021, made a name for himself playing for Southampton between 2019 and 2024.

Now back in the Championship, the Scottish target man will aim to rediscover his form in an ambitious Hull team.

Walter Benitez

PSV to Crystal Palace (free transfer)

A goalkeeper signing rarely gets pulses racing, but Walter Benitez could be a quietly excellent addition for Palace.

Benitez first established himself at Nice in France, breaking through and securing the No. 1 spot between 2016 and 2022.

The Argentine shot-stopper's time at PSV was glittered with silverware, including back-to-back Eredivisie titles, a Dutch Cup win, and two Johan Cruyff Shields.

He earned his first senior call-up for Argentina, aged 31, last summer, and brings proven quality between the posts at Selhurst Park.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Southampton to West Ham (free agent)

A relatively high-profile player, sure, but the manner of Kyle Walker-Peters’ move to West Ham - on a free - makes it stand out.

After five years with Southampton, the former Tottenham starlet signed a three-year deal with the Hammers following the expiry of his contract at St Mary's.

Walker-Peters was linked with a move to Turkey, but West Ham boss Graham Potter is believed to have been crucial in convincing the player to stay in the Premier League.

Conor Coady

Leicester to Wrexham

Following Leicester's relegation and Wrexham's promotion, former Foxes defender Conor Coady will find himself on an unfamiliar Championship team this season.

The St Helens native brings a lot of Premier League experience to Wrexham’s rapidly accelerating project, with the majority of his top-flight football coming during his time at Wolves.

Rangers were keen to sign the former Liverpool youth player, but Leicester's stance that Coady wouldn't leave the club for nothing paved the way to north Wales.

Mikey Moore

Tottenham to Rangers (loan)

It's not unusual for emerging English stars to spend some time in the Scottish top-flight, but Mikey Moore might be one of the brightest to make that trip in recent years.

The 18-year-old signed a new Tottenham deal before heading to Ibrox with no option to make the move permanent - a testament to Spurs' belief in his potential.

A pacey winger with a bag of tricks, Moore could become a crowd favourite under Russell Martin in Glasgow.

Armando Broja

Chelsea to Burnley

Aged 23, Armando Broja is hoping a permanent move to Burnley gets his career going after stagnating with Chelsea.

A difficult loan at Everton last season did little for his reputation, but Broja has shown flashes of his capabilities through the years - particularly during his spell at Southampton in 2021/22.

Burnley have splashed around £20 million on the striker as the newly-promoted Clarets look to survive in the Premier League.
