A former member of Thierry Henry’s staff is arriving in Caen. After being relegated to the National this year, Caen had been managed by Maxime d’Ornano.
However, he was dismissed by the club’s management due to poor results in the league, as well as a surprise exit from the Coupe de France.
Gael Clichy is now coming in to try to turn things around.
"Stade Malherbe Caen announces the arrival of Gael Clichy as head coach of its professional team. A former French international, he will bring to the Club his experience at the highest level, his understanding of modern football, and his daily commitment to excellence.
"He will be joined by Marvin Esor, who will complement the current technical staff, which otherwise remains unchanged," the club’s statement read.
The new coach was part of the France U21 staff from 2023 to 2025. As a player, he earned 20 caps for Les Bleus and played for Arsenal, Manchester City, and İstanbul Basaksehir.
Caen play in the third tier of the French football league system, after being relegated from Ligue 2 in 2024/25.
