Benfica coach Jose Mourinho has repeated that Sporting CP's Danish international Morten Hjulmand is given special treatment from the referees in the Portuguese domestic league.

Mourinho already, in December, criticized referees in the Portuguese league for their treatment of Hjulmand, and before the weekend, Mourinho repeated that the Danish international is handed a 'carte blanche' by the referees.

'The Special One' says in his usual sarcastic manner that "Hjulmand has only learned Portuguese to be able to communicate with the referees."

"It's something we have to think about in relation to the next foreign players who may come to Benfica.  Normally, when a player comes to a foreign country and wants to learn the language, we praise it in Portugal - and that was also something I was interested in when I worked abroad."

"But usually the goal is to make it easier to adapt socially, do your job better, and improve relationships with your teammates. Learning a language to be able to communicate better with the referees - that's fantastic."

"If a foreign player comes to Benfica, that will be our motivation to make him learn the language quickly. It's a fantastic situation", Mourinho says sarcastically, according to Portuguese media A Bola.

FC Porto leads the Portuguese Primeira Liga, holding a solid advantage over rivals Sporting CP and Benfica. Porto are four points ahead of Porto and seven points in front of Benfica.
