The Black Stars will face Japan in the 2025 Kirin Cup at the Toyota Stadium in Nagoya before travelling to Seoul to take on South Korea four days later. The games form part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after sealing qualification earlier this year.
Otto Addo’s squad features a mix of youth and experience, with Prince Kwabena Adu, Kelvin Nkrumah, and Prince Osei Owusu earning their first-ever call-ups to the national team.
The Black Stars will, however, be without several key players, including Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Alexander Djiku, Ernest Nuamah, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The team will hold its first training session in Nagoya on Wednesday, two days before the opening game against Japan.
Three Debutants Earn Black Stars Call-Ups
Prince Kwabena Adu (Viktoria Plzen – Czech Republic)
Former Bechem United striker Prince Kwabena Adu has earned his maiden call-up to the Black Stars after an impressive season in the Czech Republic.
The forward has been a consistent performer for Viktoria Plzen, where he is currently the club’s third top scorer with six goals in all competitions.
Prince Osei Owusu (CF Montreal – Canada)
Prince Osei Owusu, born in Wertheim, Germany, represents another exciting addition to the squad. The 28-year-old forward currently plays for CF Montreal in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he has enjoyed an excellent season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists.
Owusu is a graduate of the VfB Stuttgart academy and began his professional career with Stuttgart’s reserve team in 2015. He later played for TSG Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefeld, and TSV 1860 Munich, where he recorded eight goals and six assists across all competitions during his loan spell.
Kelvin Nkrumah (Medeama SC – Ghana)
Kelvin Nkrumah has been one of the bright sparks in the Ghana Premier League has earned him a deserved place in Otto Addo’s squad. The Medeama SC winger has been one of the standout performers in the league, helping his side climb to second place with a series of dazzling displays.
Nkrumah’s pace, direct dribbling, and creativity in the final third have made him one of the most exciting young talents in Ghana. He was also part of the Ghana U20 team that won Gold at the 2024 African Games football tournament, further underlining his rapid rise in Ghanaian football.

The Black Stars will train in Nagoya on Wednesday before their opening match against Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, in the Kirin Cup.
The team will then travel to Seoul to face South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, as Otto Addo continues to assess his options ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup.
