With round 12 of the Dutch Eredivisie wrapped up, let's take a look at Sunday's action across the Dutch pitches.

NEC - FC Groningen: 2-0

For the first time since September 28th, NEC have won a league game, beating play-off contenders FC Groningen 2-0 in Nijmegen.

Before the match had even begun, the stadium was bouncing as a massive tifo in honour of NEC's 125th anniversary was unveiled. Unlike the fans, however, NEC's players weren't up for the game early on as Groningen came close to scoring the opener via Younes Taha and David van der Werff.

Shortly after the break, however, the hosts took the lead through Kodai Sano and saw it double ten minutes later, when Kento Shiogai completed a Japanese double over Groningen.

Groningen top scorer Brynjolfur Willumsson was the last Groningen player to come close to a goal, but the Icelandic striker blasted his short-range effort over Gonzalo Crettaz's goal.

NEC is just one point behind FC Groningen and now sit in seventh place in the Eredivisie table, keeping a two-point gap to FC Twente, Go Ahead Eagles, Fortuna Sittard, and Sparta Rotterdam.
