The Ligue 1 giants swept aside Chelsea in the Round of 16, winning 8-2 on aggregate, and leaving huge question marks as to Liam Rosenior's suitability in the role.
Slot under pressure
After an awful campaign to date, Arne Slot also finds his position under scrutiny, and a similar hammering at the hands of one of the most exciting and expansive attacking teams on the continent would surely sound the death knell for the Dutchman's time at Anfield.
Liverpool have lost against Brighton in the Premier League (2-1) and against Man City (4-0) in the FA Cup since beating Galatasaray in their Champions League Round of 16 tie, bringing the outcome of this double-header into even sharper focus for the Reds.
On the flip side, since overcoming the Blues at Stamford Bridge, PSG have swatted aside Nice (4-0) and Toulouse (3-1), and even if the first leg result against the Reds isn't completely to their liking, the French authorities have postponed their league game that was due to be played between the two legs of this quarter-final.
Thus, giving PSG the best possible opportunity to leave Anfield with a victory and a passage into the UCL semi-finals for the second consecutive season.
Reigning champions out at this stage in four of last five seasons
Despite the poor form of Slot's side, Luis Enrique will surely guard against any complacency, and the Spaniard is also likely to be aware that the competition's reigning champions have been eliminated at the quarter-final stage in four of the last five seasons - Real Madrid in 2022/23 being the exception.
Three wins each in their previous UCL clashes also offers some perspective as to the match not necessarily being as one-sided as some pundits might have you believe.

Indeed, though PSG were the victors in last season's Round of 16 tie, they were taken all the way to penalties, albeit there's an acknowledgement that Liverpool were in better form then than now.
It's worth pointing out, though, that even in such fine form, the Reds were only able to have four shots across the two legs of that tie, with PSG managing 18.
Superb recent record against English teams
Playing against Premier League sides certainly doesn't faze the Ligue 1 outfit, given that they've progressed against Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in knockout matches since the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
They also triumphed 5-3 against Tottenham and drew 1-1 with Newcastle in this season's league phase, giving them a six-match unbeaten record against English teams (W5, D1).

Seven knockout matches unbeaten against all teams in the UCL means that another draw or win for PSG will see them equal the most ever from a French side, a record currently held by Lyon from April 2004 to March 2006.
Slot will be desperate for his team not to lose what would be a galling 16th game in all competitions this season, though their recent form doesn't bode well. Since the beginning of March, Liverpool have lost four games, drawn one and won only two.
Wirtz, Szoboszlai and Kvaratskhelia the key men
Using their fine away win against Internazionale as a blueprint for success in the French capital has to be the way to go for the visitors, if they don't want the tie to be over before the return leg.
Florian Wirtz and Dominic Szoboszlai's European form would appear to be key to Liverpool springing a surprise, with the former's 27 chances created in this season's UCL being the most on record by a player for an English club in his opening nine appearances for them in the competition.

The Hungarian has the most goals (five), assists (four), and has won possession back the most times (69) for Liverpool in this season's UCL, and given a collective dip in form of late, their respective creativity and industry become essential to the Reds' passage to the semi-finals.
If the visitors can get on the front foot, there will be chances available to them on the night, too. For all of PSG's swashbuckling forward play, they have conceded twice in four of their last six UCL games, whilst Liverpool have kept their opponents goalless in four of their last six.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could take some stopping, however. 11 goal contributions in 11 games (seven goals and four assists) in this season's UCL is level with Kylian Mbappe's output in the 2020/21 edition of the tournament. Only Ousmane Dembele (14 contributions in 15 games last season) has recorded more.
To give further perspective on just how difficult an assignment this tie could become for the Reds, PSG lead this season's competition for goals scored (34), total shots (241), shots on target (90), passes attempted (7,971) and collective pass completion (91%).
