Captain Yussuf Poulsen believes the timing is just right for Hamburger SV's visit to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich when the two sides clash on Saturday night. "If I could have picked a time before the season, I would have said it would be perfect after an international break. Because Bayern have a lot of international players - and now a short preparation period," says HSV's new signing in an interview with Münchner Merkur.

For the tricky mission on Saturday, Poulsen is counting on Hamburg's physical strenghts. "We have to be there in the man-to-man duels, believe in ourselves from the first to the last minute, because we're all aware that the game will be difficult," said the attacker. Bayern are "title favourites. That's why it doesn't matter whether you're travelling to Munich as HSV, Leipzig or anyone else: You have to perform at your best. Otherwise, days like this can be bitter."

Last win in Munich was a long time ago.

HSV know a thing or two about that. The last win against Munich was almost 16 years ago. Since then, Hamburg has managed just three meagre draws in 19 competitive matches against the traditional club, with a goal difference of 7-71. Hamburg's last win in Munich came on 28 April 2007 (2-1).

Poulsen himself has never played against a club more often in his career. In 18 games, he has experienced two wins, six draws and ten defeats against the record champions. In the last meeting last season, Poulsen spoiled Bayern's chances of winning the championship with his goal in stoppage time to make it 3-3, when he was still at RB Leipzig."Of course I'll try to be decisive in the game again," he says.
