The NSA says the stadium is currently the only venue in Ghana approved to host FIFA Category A matches, making it the designated venue for several upcoming international fixtures.
Ghana are scheduled to face Cote d’Ivoire in Bouake on September 24th, with Niger hosting Lesotho on the same day.
The NSA is therefore preparing the Accra Sports Stadium to host Niger’s fixture after the Ghana Football Association received a notice from the federation of their intent to play in Ghana.
“On the 24th of September, the Black Stars will be in Bouake. And at the same time, Niger will be here against Lesotho. So we're preparing for that.”
Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign will then continue with a home fixture against The Gambia on September 29th.
The NSA Director General also confirmed that Accra Sports Stadium will host both of Somalia’s fixtures against Ghana, with Somalia expected to use the Ghanaian capital as their home venue.
“Somalia, home and away… both matches will be played at Accra, home and away. So that's what the FA has communicated. So we need to prepare for those matches.”
The arrangement means Accra Sports Stadium could host multiple AFCON qualifiers during the September international window, underscoring the need to ensure the facility meets the required standards.
The NSA says the stadium currently holds approval to host FIFA Category A matches, making it the only available venue in the country for fixtures of this level.
“Accra Sports Stadium is currently the only approved venue for FIFA Category A matches.”
The development comes as Ghana continues preparations for its 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the Black Stars drawn in Group C alongside Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia and Somalia.
The September fixtures will be the first matches for Carlos Queiroz since he returned as head coach of the Black Stars following Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
