Belgian rider Wout van Aert is set to compete in the PostNord Tour of Denmark, which begins on Wednesday. The Visma team has announced the news in posts across several social media platforms, including Instagram.
Van Aert was originally meant to support Jonas Vingegaard at the Tour de France, but a training crash derailed those plans.
The lingering effects of an elbow injury prevented him from participating, and he has not raced since the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, where he was forced to withdraw due to the injury.
However, the 31-year-old van Aert has already achieved one of the major highlights of his career this year by winning Paris-Roubaix in the spring.
The versatile rider won the PostNord Tour of Denmark in 2018 while riding for the Willems team, before moving the following year to the squad then known as Jumbo-Visma.
The Visma team will also include Frenchman Christophe Laporte, who won the Danish stage race in 2022. Jens Kasler, the race's sporting director, has high expectations for the Dutch squad.

The Tour of Denmark starts on Wednesday with a stage starting and finishing in Aalborg. Four days later, the race concludes in Rodovre. The provisional start list also includes riders such as Fabio Jakobsen (Picnic), Soren Kragh Andersen (Lidl-Trek), and Niklas Larsen (Unibet).
