Danish leader of Paris-Nice, Jonas Vingegaard, said on Friday that some of the riders in the peloton had been upset with him for humiliating his competitors further on Thursday by winning another stage and thus extending his gap at the top with another two minutes in the classification.

"There were some who were a little incomprehensible. But we are allowed to go after the stage, just like they are. I don't care. They can think what they want. I took two extra minutes, so now it looks good," was the icy response from the Dane to TV2 Sport, and Vingegaard also explained that the attack on yesterday's stage wasn't planned at all.

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) maintained his overall lead safely for a third straight day on the 6th stage of the Paris-Nice, and the Danish star will head into the final crunch weekend at the head of affairs.

28-year-old Colombian Harold Tejada (XDS-Astana) claimed his first WorldTour victory and the second win of his pro career when he won today's stage.

Racing down the steep descent off the cat. 2 Côte de Saignon and through the narrow streets of the finish town of Apt, Tejada finished just a handful of seconds ahead of a small group led by Dorian Godon (Ineos Grenadiers) and Lewis Askey (NSN).

"It's my first victory in a WorldTour race, and I'm loving it," he said afterwards. "I've been very patient, and I'm really happy to do it", said Tejada afterwards
