FC Porto have signed the FC Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt for no less than €22 million in a five-year deal setting a new transfer record for FC Copenhagen.

After seven years at F.C. Copenhagen, where he played 62 first-team matches and scored 8 goals, Victor Froholdt today waves goodbye to take the next step in his career at FC Porto.

FC Copenhagen sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen regrets having to say goodbye to the talented 19-year-old central midfielder.

"We have a great desire to maintain continuity in the squad, and Victor was an essential component, so I would have liked to have seen him stay with us longer."

"In the negotiation process, however, it was clear that Victor wanted a change of club, and since we are also getting a historically high transfer, I have chosen to accept it."

"The timing is of course bad in relation to the fact that we have just started the Danish Superliga and our European qualifiers. But transfer income is also an important element in our strategy and our desire to run a sustainable football business. When the amount has become so high, I am also obliged to act financially responsible."

FCK is guaranteed 20 million EUROs in the deal while two million is tied to performance-based bonuses. Furthermore, it is confirmed that FC Copenhagen has secured a resale clause of ten %.

19-year-old Victor Froholdt joined FC Copenhagen Talent as a 12-year-old from Vallensbaek IF. Since then, he continuously raised his level through the youth ranks and made his debut for the first team in autumn 2023 and was selected for the Danish national team in the spring..

"It is sad to leave the place that has been my home for so many years, and it is not an easy decision," says Victor Froholdt.

"But I'm eager to take the next step in Europe, and I feel ready and well equipped. This is due in particular to the football upbringing I brought with me from FC Copenhagen, and I owe the club and FC Copenhagen Talent so much."
