The 12th week (June 23rd to June 29th) of the 2025 MLB season is over with and it was headlined by the Nationals' young star - James Wood!

As always, the highlights this week will be divided into the following categories: history, walk-offs, home runs, pitching, and fielding!

History

Washington Nationals young star James Wood had one heck of a week! Firstly, he tied Bryce Harper and Juan Soto for most home runs (31) in their first 162 games as a National.

Then, on Sunday, Wood became the first person in MLB history since Barry Bonds (2004) to be intentionally walked four times in a game.

Only four other players in MLB history besides Wood and Bonds accomplished that feat - Andre Dawson, Roger Maris, Manny Ramirez, and Gary Templeton.

It's rookies galore in the MLB this season.

Cincinnati Reds top pitching prospect Chase Burns became the first pitcher in the MLB of the last 50 years to strike out the first five batters he faced in his big-league debut! Even better? He upped it to six!

New York Mets star outfielder Juan Soto didn't just hit his 27th multi-home run game this past week - he surpassed the legend Jimmie Foxx for the most in MLB history before turning 27 years old!

Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal put on a show on Sunday after recording 13 strikeouts - a career high - in his shutout win over the Twins.

Skubal now joins Tigers legends Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander after his 10th win as the only Detroit pitchers to earn 10 consecutive decisions in a season over the past 40 years!

Walk-Offs

The only better feeling for Reds players and fans this past week was not only beating the New York Yankees - but doing it in walk-off fashion as Galvin Lux won it in extras!

And instead of just one, the Reds helped themselves to seconds with this walk-off win over the San Diego Padres thanks to Will Benson!

Los Angeles Angels rookie Christian Moore not only hit the game-tying home run in the eighth inning, but he also launched a hit to deep right-centre to walk it off in the bottom of the 10th!

Home Runs

Max Muncy was on an absolute tear for the Los Angeles Dodgers last week - adding this grand slam to a four-home-run week!

It's almost July but the Atlanta Braves managed to get their first grand slam of the season thanks to Sean Murphy!

Chicago Cubs left fielder Seiya Suzuki set a single-season career high with his 22nd home run last week!

The best part? We're not even at the All-Star break yet!

Pitching

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Quinn Priester went on to record 10 strikeouts against the Rockies this past week to set a new career high!

Then he added one more to the batch as he finished his start with 11 in total.

After going the distance for a complete game earlier this season, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach then set a new career high with 12 strikeouts in a matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies!

Fielding

St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado has been a stud this season and he showed everyone last week why he's a 10x Gold Glover after securing a clutch play in the field to give his team the win over their division rival Chicago Cubs!

You saw a game saving play in the field by Arenado, well, here's a game-saving catch by Seattle Mariners shortstop Miles Mastrobuoni!

Kansas City Royals right fielder Jac Caglianone isn't just the top prospect in baseball because of his bat - he can also flash the leather when he needs to!

New York Mets centrefielder Jeff McNeil timed this jump perfectly to rob Marcell Ozuna of a home run!

Robbery is legal in the game of baseball. Don't believe me? Then watch Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser take this home run away from Danny Jansen!

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement made sure to hang on to this foul ball as he went into the stands!
