15:05 CET - Mirra Andreeva was not at her scintillating best against Leylah Fernandez this afternoon, but she stepped up in the big moments to stop the Canadian breaking her serve and when her chance came to break in the second set, she took it.
Andreeva's coach did a good job at motivating her and keeping her calm in the big moments and the rising star responded brilliantly.
14:45 CET - Sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti has been dumped out of the Madrid Open ahead of the quarter-finals by Czech Jiri Lehecka, who has won their fourth-round clash 6-3, 6-3.
The world number 14 only needed a little over an hour to oust the Italian from the clay-court event. He won 100 per cent of his service games and saved four out of four break points in the win.
The victory sees Lehecka move into the final eight, where he will take on French rising star Arthur Fils, who won earlier today as well.
12:41 CET - We have our first two men's quarter-finalists at the Madrid Open!
Barring a late second-set wobble, Jannik Sinner eased to a relatively comfortable 6-2, 7-5 victory over Cameron Norrie in their first-ever meeting, and he is just three wins away from a record-breaking fifth consecutive Masters 1000 title.
Frankly, Sinner was not at his best, making an unusually high 18 unforced errors by his lofty standards. However, even then, he was far too good, showcasing how far ahead the chasing pack he is.
Arthur Fils also booked his spot in the last eight, beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 6-4.
Fils is yet to lose a match on the clay this year after winning the title in Barcelona just over a week ago, and either Lorenzo Musetti or Jiri Lehecka will stand in his way of reaching the semi-finals and making it nine wins in a row.
10:57 CET - Play is set to get underway in the coming minutes, with Jannik Sinner vs Cameron Norrie, and Arthur Fils vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry up first.
Follow all the men's action here, and the women's here!
09:00 CET - Good morning and welcome back to our coverage of the Madrid Open, as the quarter-finals begin on the women's side of the draw, while the men's fourth round also begins.
Play gets underway at 11:00 CET on the Manolo Santana Stadium, with world number one Jannik Sinner facing Cameron Norrie as he continues his quest to win a record-breaking fifth-straight Masters 1000 title.
That is followed by the first women's last-eight clash, as Mirra Andreeva takes on Leylah Fernandez in what has the potential to be a real grind.
Spain's new 19-year-old superstar, Rafa Jodar, then clashes with Vit Kopriva, as he aims to reach the quarter-finals on home turf.
The evening session sees the women's world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, meet Hailey Baptiste in a rematch of their match in Miami at the same stage. Sabalenka is gunning to become the first woman to win four Madrid titles.
Finally, world number three and former champion Alexander Zverev goes head-to-head with Jakub Mensik, in what is a first meeting between the pair.
There are plenty of other matches to look forward to, with Arthur Fils, Lorenzo Musetti, defending champion Casper Ruud, Francisco Cerundolo and Daniil Medvedev trying to reach the last eight.
