A Filip Cederqvist goal in the 15th minute put Frolunda ahead as they looked to banish memories of defeats to Skelleftea and Orebro, but it took just five second-period minutes for Farjestad to turn things around, courtesy of strikes from Filip Roos and Viktor Lodin on a powerplay.
An 8-2 loss to Timra had brough Farjestad back down to earth after a recent upturn in form, and after Gabriel Carlsson had a goal disallowed following a review, their fortunes appeared to be turning.
However, the home side held onto their narrow until until Frolunda pulled the goaltender late in the third period, which backfired, allowing David Tomasek to find the empty net. Dominik Egli scored for the visitors in the final minute, but that turned out to be a consolation, as Farjestad won 3-2.
Including their 2-2 Champions Hockey League draw with Brynas, it's now four without a win in all competitions for the Gothenberg side, while Farjestad have returned to eighth in the table.
On a night of upsets in the SHL, the teams in third, fourth and fifth all tasted defeat.
Three goals in the second period alone were enough for Djurgarden to hang on for a precious 3-2 away win at Rogle that ends their four-match losing run and give them breathing space in the final Play-off place, while the home side fell to a third defeat in four.
The Angelholm side stay in third place, a point clear of Vaxjo, as the Lakers were beaten for the first time in five games, going down 4-1 at home to Brynas, who climb to seventh following a third victory in a row.
Sixth-placed Lulea closed the gap to fifth-placed Malmo to five points with a 5-3 home win over the Redhawks, as Brendan Shinnimin and Axel Sundberg both scored a brace. Six wins in seven have given Lulea a six-point cushion to those outside the top six, as Malmo lost a first game in their last four.
The only team in the top five to register a victory in this round was Skelleftea, who bounced back from their heavy loss to Rogle with an entertaining 7-4 win at home to Timra, who drop to ninth after two defeats in three days.
Timra's Sebastian Hartmann tied things up at 3-3 early in the third period, but four goals in the final 13 minutes was plenty for Skelleftea to pull clear and move to within just five points of Frolunda. Jonathan Johnson and Jonathan Pudas led the game with three points each for the home side.
Finally, Orebro failed to build on their impressive win over Frolunda, as they were comprehensively beaten 5-1 at home to HV 71. Four players earned two points each as the visitors won a third game in five to move within three points of safety, as Orebro stay 11th with one win in five.
