Lulea have tasted defeat in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for the first time since they won the title for the second time in their history back in May, as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Rogle.

Rogle made the long journey north from Scania with two points from their opening two matches and were not expected to cause much of a threat to the champions, who had scored 12 goals in their first two outings.

However, they managed to frustrate the Lulea attack, preventing them from finding the net in the opening two periods, and when Linus Sandin put Rogle ahead in the first minute of the second, an upset was on the cards.

It became a reality in the 17th minute of the third, when Felix Nilsson doubled the visitors' lead and though Markus Nurmi pulled one back for Lulea, they were not able to send the game to overtime and therefore lost their perfect record this season.

No side has won three out of three in the SHL, as Vaxjo were beaten 2-1 by Timra, while Leksand were beaten 5-4 in overtime by Malmo. That gave the Redhawks their first two points of the season, and means Leksand are a point clear of both Lulea and Vaxjo.

Joining Leksand on seven points and taking the early lead in the standings are Farjestad, who since losing on overtime to Rogle on the opening night have beaten Malmo and then Skelleftea last night, 5-2.

However, there are still two teams with perfect records - after winning on opening night last weekend, neither Djurgarden nor Frolunda were in action in round 2. That rest seemed key as the new boys beat Linkoping 5-3 away, while Frolunda earned a 2-1 success over Orebro.

A 4-0 win away from home means Brynas finally have points on the board, they beat HV 71, who are one of two teams - along with Linkoping - still on zero points this season.
