1st Period
Saying the Colorado Avalanche came to play may be an understatement. They put up a total of 19 shots on goal in the first period alone, along with 22 hits and five blocked shots.
Valeri Nichushkin scored the first goal of the game to put the Avs up 1-0 after the shot went off Stars defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin's skate.
With just under two minutes left to go in the period, Artturi Lehkonen scored his third goal of the playoffs to put the Avs up to a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
2nd period
Just 55 seconds into the second period, Avs forward Brock Nelson received a two-minute minor penalty for tripping and the Stars took advantage almost right away.
Roope Hintz scored just 23 seconds into the power play, marking his third of the playoffs as the Stars cut the lead to one.
It wouldn't take long for Dallas to completely swing the momentum in their favor.
Mikael Granlund put one in net to tie it all 2-2 just under three minutes past Hintz's goal.
But the tie game went by in the blink of an eye after Martin Necas put the Avs back up 3-2 with a goal just 53 seconds following Dallas' goal.
And, of course, Hintz comes back around to tie it all up again at 3-3 with his second goal of the game, almost eight minutes into the period to now make it four total goals between both teams in the period.
Oh, the goal-scoring didn't end there.
For the fifth goal of the period, Mikko Rantanen sent one home to give the Stars a 4-3 lead as he finally tallied a goal after recording three assists in the game.
But a door opened for the Avalanche after they started a power play following Thomas Harley's high-sticking minor on Nelson.
They went into the second intermission with 57 seconds left on the power play.
Colorado put up 35 shots to Dallas' 19 at this point while also out-hitting them 31-17.
But, as what seems to be a trend in tonight's slate of games, those who take advantage of their power plays emerge victorious.
3rd Period
Valeri Nichushkin scored his second goal of the game to get things started six minutes into the third period to tie it all up 4-4.
Then, just a few minutes later, the Avs were awarded a goal, credited to Nathan MacKinnon, after Dallas scored on their own net to take a 5-4 lead.
Dallas couldn't come back anymore following the fluke goal as Josh Manson and Cale Makar both scored empty-netters to send Dallas home with a 7-4 loss.
Colorado managed to put up 48 total shots to Dallas' 26 while outhitting them 45-19.
It'll all come down to Game 7 in Dallas on Saturday, May 3rd.
