Columbus Blue Jackets 2-5 Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild kept up their impressive form of late with a 5-2 success on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They had to play from behind though, with Zach Werenski gave the hosts the lead towards the latter stags of the opening period.
Minnesota did not get on the board until there were six and a half minutes left in the middle frame. Ryan Hartman was able to level the score, before Vladimir Tarasenko gave them their first lead a few minutes later.
The Blue Jackets, who had two less shots in the contest, nodded things up at two thanks to Werenski, who doubled his tally for the night before the period ended.
The winning goal came with 8:10 left on the clock. Joel Eriksson was the hero for the Wild, giving them the go-ahead marker.
Columubs tried to tie the game up once more, but this time, they were unsuccessful. Kiril Kaprizov and Matthew Boldy added empty netters near the end to give the away team the win.
That victory allowed the Wild to create further distance from themselves and those below them, as they stay third in the Western Conference. The Jackets, on the other hand, remain bottom of the East, having lost six out of their last seven.
Buffalo Sabres 5-3 Philadelphia Flyers
The Buffalo Sabres managed to climb off rock bottom of the East thanks to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
Jack Quinn got the goalscoring started with his marker 7:40 into the game. However, the lead lasted only 58 seconds. Noah Cates tied things up, giving an immediate response for the Flyers.
Cam York then gave the guests the lead midway through the second to silence the home crowd. From there, Buffalo turned things around, finding an equalizer through Tage Thompson before Noah Ostlund made it 3-2.
By the time Josh Norris' power play goal came shortly after the midpoint of the third frame, the Flyers were already in trouble of defeat. Travis Konecny reduced the deficit to one with five and a half minutes left.
The home fans ended up celebrating a Buffalo win as they held firm in the final few minutes to come out on top. Ryan McLeod iced off the game with an empty netter in the final seconds to complete the scoring.
The Sabres have now won their last four, even though they remain in last spot in their division. The Flyers, on the other hand, have been defeated in four of their last five.
