On Tuesday, the French national team announced that Nedim Remili will miss the 2026 Handball Euro, which kicks off this Thursday in Norway.

French national team coach Guillaume Gille on Monday announced their 18-man squad but already on Tueday Gille was forced to find a replacement for Nedim Remili who has withdrawn from the squad.

After suffering an injury to his left thigh, the Veszprém right back was forced to pull out. He will not be traveling to Norway with the French team.

Instead, Aymeric Zaepfel has been called up to the squad.

"During the rehabilitation process following his left thigh injury, Nedim experienced pain in the calf of the same leg, which required urgent medical tests. Unfortunately, these tests revealed an acute injury that rules him out of the EURO," said Emmanuel Bidet, doctor for the French national team.

"Nedim's absence is far from insignificant, given his experience and influence on the court. Now we have to adjust with the group of eighteen players," said Guillaume Gille on the federation's website.

France will begin their campaign this Thursday against the Czech Republic.
