Odense suffered their first defeat of the season when they were thrashed at home by French outfit Brest who humiliated the Danes through a 40-31 win in Denmark.

Thanks to the win, Brest maintained their perfect record in the competition to preserve the pole position in the standings.

The Odense defense looked difficult to penetrate in the early stages of the game, but Brest quickly responded, and Clarisse Mairot led the French attack as the visitors went on to claim a narrow lead.

Once Brest edged ahead 16-13 after 21 minutes, Odense's attacking errors helped the French champions extend the gap to six goals.

Odense came back into the match with one of the most efficient attacks in the competition, but were held to just 17 goals before half-time, as Brest's renowned defence once again proved decisive, while the visitors also looked dangerous in attack, scoring 23 goals.

Odense fought hard to launch a comeback, but even when there were signs of hope, trying a 7-6 formation was to prove costly.

Instead of narrowing the gap thanks to their numerical advantage, Brest capitalised by scoring into an empty net to take an astonishing nine-goal lead.

The French visitors never looked back to finish off last year's Champions League finalists with a superb performance that kept their flawless record intact and cemented their place at the top of the group.
