The Mexican right-back was driving at 111 km. per hour in a 50 kilometer zone at Kalvebod Brygge in central Copenhagen, which is considered reckless driving according to the Danish Road Traffic Act.
This has resulted in Rodrigo Huescas having his driver's license revoked, and he could ultimately end up serving 20 days in prison.
"I have made an indescribable mistake, and I apologize for having shown such poor judgment. I have not lived up to my responsibility as a role model, and I naturally accept the consequences. I am very sorry and embarrassed", says Rodrigo Huescas.
Rodrigo Huescas and FC Copenhagen now awaits what the punishment will be.
"It is unacceptable that you do not comply with the law and at the same time expose others to danger with your actions. As a football player in FC Copenhagen, you have a great responsibility to be a role model and act correctly, and Rodrigo has been told this in clear terms", says sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen.
Huescas, who has got two caps to his name in the Mexican national team, joined the former Danish champions from Cruz Azul in a five-year deal in July 2024.
