Wednesday, September 17th

23:20 CET - This is where we leave you for today in our live Champions League coverage. But, be sure to tune in again tomorrow as we have six more matches to savour still in this Matchday!

23:05 CET - Well, another fun end to a second great night of Champions League football! In the late games, Liverpool, PSG, Inter, and Bayern all picked up wins. Below you can see the full scores from today:

PSG 4-0 Atalanta

Liverpool 3-2 Atletico Madrid

Bayern Munich 3-1 Chelsea

Ajax 0-2 Inter Milan

Slavia Prague 2-2 Bodo/Glimt

Olympiacos 0-0 Pafos

22:58 CET - Last but not least, Liverpool have beaten Atletico Madrid 3-2 in dramatic fashion thanks to that late, late winner.

22:56 CET - Bayern have beaten Chelsea 3-1 in Munich. A late Cole Palmer goal was chalked off for offside, and that's the closest the Blues came to mounting a comeback.

22:54 CET - Virgil van Dijk has headed home from a corner to surely win the match for Liverpool! That is 3-2 and no time left for Atleti, it doesn't seem.

22:52 CET - That's full-time in Amsterdam and Paris, Inter and PSG have won their respective matches.

22:50 CET - PSG have widened their lead to 4-0 over Atalanta. Goncalo Ramos has gotten in on the act now.

22:42 CET - Here's your twist - Atletico Madrid have levelled things at Anfield and it's a belter from Marcos Llorente to make it 2-2 and complete the comeback!

That is Llorente's second of the match. Liverpool will be kicking themselves for giving up their early lead.

22:40 CET - We are heading into the final 10 minutes of regular time around the grounds... As it stands, PSG, Inter, Bayern and Liverpool are on track for victories.

22:23 CET - Harry Kane has scored his second of the night to put Bayern into a commanding 3-1 lead over Chelsea in Munich. With only 30 minutes to go, it feels like a long way back for the Blues... Kane clinical once again.

22:10 CET - Nuno Mendes has put PSG into a 3-0 lead over Atalanta in Paris. Surely, that's that one done. And what a goal it was, by the way, almost everyone touching the ball on its way to the net.

22:06 CET - We are back underway around most of the grounds now, and Inter have already doubled their lead over Ajax! It's 2-0 there.

Marcus Thuram has netted his second goal of the night in Amsterdam for the Milan club. Is that game over?

22:03 CET - Inter and Bayern both head into the second half a goal up, while PSG lead 2-0.

21:51 CET - In the first match they've ever played in a European competition without starting an English player, Liverpool head into the break leading Atletico 2-1, with Marcos Llorente finding the back of the net just before half-time.

Isak hasn't been able to find the back of the net, but has shown some glimpses of real quality.

21:42 CET - Marcus Thuram has scored his second goal in two games to give Inter the lead in what has been an even match with Ajax, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has doubled PSG's lead but has seen his goal followed by a penalty miss from Bradley Barcola.

PSG have already taken an early lead via a goal from Marquinhos.

20:41 CET - Despite a dream Champions League debut from Youssoupha Mbodji, who bagged a brace to put Slavia Prague 2-0 up, Bodo/Glimt are returning home with a point thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser from Sondre Fet.

It was a disappointing night for the home side in Athens too, with Olympiacos being held to a 0-0 draw by Pafos despite being a man up for well over an hour of play.

22:42 CET - It's now 4-2 to Dortmund in Turin, that's the sixth goal of the half, after Ramy Bensebaini slots home from the penalty spot. Game over? You wouldn't want to guess this one; it's been chaos.

22:34 CET - Real Madrid have lost Dani Carvajal to a red card! The veteran right back appeared to head-butt the Marseille keeper, so it's a reasonable decision.

After losing Trent Alexander-Arnold early to an injury, Los Blancos have now lost his replacement, too.

22:31 CET - You guessed it, another goal in Turin! Dortmund are back in front for the third time this half, it's 3-2. Yan Couto has scored the fifth goal of the game since the break.

22:24 CET - Blink and you'll miss it - it's 2-2 in Turin now! Juventus are level again. It's truly an insane start to the half there. This time it's Dusan Vlahovic with the goal - the third in four minutes!!!

22:21 CET - I don't believe it - Dortmund are back in front already! It's 2-1. That didn't take long... It's another top strike too - Felix Nmecha has driven in from the edge of the box, following a move that started with kick-off.

22:09 CET - Dortmund have broken the deadline in Turin - they lead Juventus 1-0 thanks to Karim Adeyemi, who has found some space on the edge of the area to fire home wonderfully well. It's his first goal of the season.

22:06 CET - It hasn't taken long at all for Qarabag to find another goal, and it's 2-2 in Lisbon, would you believe! Benfica are in danger of being stunned here.

21:51 CET - It is half-time around Europe, and you can check out all the scores below:

Benfica 2 Qarabag 1

21:30 CET - But Real Madrid have rebounded almost immediately, with Kylian Mbappe bagging from the penalty spot. Marseille pegged back quickly.

21:25 CET - Well, well, well, Marseille have taken the lead at Real Madrid completely against the run of play, courtesy of Tim Weah. 1-0 to the French side!

21:17 CET - 15 minutes in, Benfica have flown to a 2-0 lead over Qarabag. Game over already?

21:04 CET - Spurs have been given an absolute gift of a goal by Villarreal, with keeper Luiz Junior dropping a clanger, spilling the ball into the back of his own net from a tame cross. Dream start for the Londoners!

21:00 CET - Right then, proceedings are now underway in the next four fixtures!

20:43 CET - It didn't make for pretty viewing, but Arsenal have got their Champions League season off and running with a 2-0 win at Athletic Club. Substitutes Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli made the difference with a goal and an assist each off the bench.

20:37 CET - Royale Union have claimed a fantastic opening game win over PSV, stunning the Dutch champions 3-1 in their own backyard. A wonderful way to start their campaign, but the same cannot be said for PSV.

20:34 CET - With a few minutes left, Arsenal have now surely killed off the game, with another substitute, Leandro Trossard, scoring this time to make it 2-0.

20:18 CET - It has taken them 70 minutes, but Arsenal finally have the lead! 30 seconds after coming on, Gabriel Martinelli has scored with a good finish, and the Gunners are 1-0 up at Athletic Club.

19:55 CET - The team news is in as Xabi Alonso begins his first Champions League campaign as Real Madrid boss.

Unsurprisingly, the on-fire Kylian Mbappe leads Real Madrid's line, but what is more of a surprise is to see Argentine youngster and new signing Franco Mastantuono make his Champions League debut from the start.

The big team news from the visitors is that former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang starts up front on his return to Marseille

That would prove to be the last moment of note as the half-time whistle blows. A huge team talk is coming up from PSV manager Peter Bosz.

Follow the second half here.

19:27 CET - After a difficult start, Arsenal have begun taking control of possession against Athletic Club in the last 15 minutes.

Opta insight: Arsenal have had 71.9% possession over the last 15 minutes.

Still very few major chances to talk about from either side, however.

19:02 CET - Athletic Club are on top against Arsenal in the early stages, with the hosts dominating possession and looking a threat. The visitors haven't got going in this contest so far.

18:55 CET - In the other early kick-off, Royale Union SG have scored their first ever Champions League goal after taking a shock lead at PSV!

Their first Champions League goal came from the penalty spot, and Promise David made no mistake to give the visitors a dream start.

18:46 CET - We are underway in Bilbao after a short delay. Vamos!

18:45 CET - It is five minutes until kick-off in Bilbao, which means only one thing. It is time for the Champions League theme song as the players walk out.

The Champions League is back, ladies and gents.

18:15 CET - As we approach 30 minutes until kick-off, Opta has some interesting insight about Arsenal's lineup.

Opta insight: Arsenal are the first non-Spanish team to name four Spaniards in their starting XI for a UEFA Champions League game against Spanish opposition (Raya, Mosquera, Merino, Zubimendi) since Chelsea vs Barcelona in February 2018 (Alonso, Azpilicueta, Pedro, Fabregas).

17:25 CET - The first team news is in for the 2025/26 Champions League campaign!

The hosts, Athletic Bilbao, make two changes from the side that lost 1-0 at home to Alaves at the weekend, with Maroan Sannadi leading the line after coming on at the hour mark on Saturday.

Talisman Nico Williams remains out injured, which is a setback, but one they would have prepared for in training this week.

The visitors Arsenal hand Champions League debuts to new signings Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, whilst striker Viktor Gyokeres makes his first Champions League appearance for the Gunners, having previously starred for Sporting.
