Which teams are playing in the Bundesliga 2026/27?
In the 2026/27 season, 18 teams will once again compete against each other in the Bundesliga. Among them are top clubs like FC Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Traditional clubs such as VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt are also represented.
The promoted teams from the 2. Bundesliga bring fresh energy to the new season. Last season, FC Schalke 04 and SV Elversberg finished in the top two spots in the second division and secured direct promotion. In addition, SC Paderborn won the relegation playoff against VfL Wolfsburg and completes the Bundesliga lineup.

When does the Bundesliga 2026/27 start and end?
The official Bundesliga start for the 2026/27 season is scheduled for the weekend of 28 to 30 August 2026. Traditionally, the new season kicks off with the opening match featuring the German champions, broadcast live on free TV on Friday evening. This year, FC Bayern will face VfB Stuttgart on 28.08., with Sat.1 showing the match free of charge.
Additionally, as part of Sky’s takeover by RTL, the Saturday match between RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach on the first matchday will also be broadcast live on free TV.
The final matchday is planned for 22 May 2027. There will be a short winter break around the turn of the year, from 20 December 2026 to 8 January 2027.
How will the Bundesliga 2026/27 be broadcast on TV?
For the 2025/26 season as well, Bundesliga broadcasting remains split among several providers:
DAZN has secured the broadcasting rights for the prestigious Saturday afternoon conference. The streaming provider also shows all Sunday matches (3:30 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm) live.
RTL has secured a package of up to five live matches per half-season and, according to media reports, intends to make full use of the licenses for a total of ten matches.
