Colorado took two of three from the Minnesota Twins before doing the same to the Cardinals following their 6-0 win.
Tanner Gordon earned his second win of the season after throwing six shutout innings, giving up just four hits while walking four and striking out four.
"Some things look different, which is a good thing," said Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer.
The win marked their first shutout since May 15, 2024 - the longest streak in baseball (220 games). Heading into the All-Star break, the Rockies lost 17 straight home series, tying the Philadelphia Athletics (1917-1918) for the longest streak in MLB history.
Luckily, that's one awful record they won't be able to claim this season.
During their 4-2 stretch over the last six games coming out of the All-Star break, the Rockies have been the only team in baseball to hit a batting average above .300 while also leading in slugging percentage (.528). They've hit eight home runs (t-4th) and scored 27 total runs (t-4th).
But the young bats in Colorado are looking extremely promising, especially Mickey Moniak.
Heading into Wednesday's action, Moniak was leading the league in both OPS (1.178) and slugging percentage (.766) while also ranking second in batting average (.362) since June 1st.
Moniak hit his 15th home run of the season against the Cardinals, setting a new career high.
Unfortunately, their pitching as a whole was still rough, tossing a 5.40 earned run average (23rd) and giving up a league-most 56 hits during the two series.
The Rockies are undergoing one of the worst seasons in MLB history yet also one of the most entertaining of all teams across the league - for all the wrong reasons, of course.
The team has fired both former Manager Bud Black and bench coach Mike Redmond after a 7-33 start to the season. After being projected to post the worst record in modern baseball history, just a season removed from the Chicago White Sox (41-121) setting the new record, the Rockies are currently projected to win 45 games this season.
With 60 games to go, the Rockies need to win at least 16 more games to make sure their names aren't etched into the record books as the worst team in modern history.
But for right now, let's enjoy the ride they're on.
