Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen addressed the media with an update on the return of two starters on Sunday, including wide receiver Josh Downs.

Downs ain’t serious at all. He might practice Tuesday,” ‌Steichen stated. “Nothing serious there.

Downs, entering his fourth year in the league, was the fourth different Colts player to be out during training camp. The team's top receiver, Alec Pierce, has yet to partake in a practice so far due to a surgically-repaired ankle.

Laquon Treadwell has been nursing a hamstring issue, causing him to miss the last three practices. As for Eli Pancol, he also was unavailable for a couple of days witth undisclosed injury.

Both of the Colts' weekend preactices did not have Pierce, Downs, nor Treadwell involved. The three-receiver sets were instead completed by Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Ashton Dulin, and Anthony Gould. Combined, the trio had just 18 catches last season.

Steichen was also concerned about cornerback Justin Walley, who was absent for the reps during Sunday's practice. He took part of the warm-ups, but tweaked a hamstring. Walley sat out of his rookie NFL season in 2025 due to a torn ACL.

We’re just monitoring him, too,” Steichen said. “He had a little thing in practice. It wasn’t anything bad, but we just wanted to be smart with him today, and he just went in individual.

In total, the Colts currently have five players with hamstring issues - Walley, Treadwell, running back DJ Giddens, Hunter Wohler, and CJ Allen.

Indianapolis' first pre-season game will be on Thursday versus the New England Patriots.
