Safety Jabrill Peppers is expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the two sides agreed to terms, several NFL insiders have reported.

Peppers, 29, was surprisingly cut by the New England Patriots after the last day of roster cuts. The former Michigan Wolverine played just six games in 2024 after being placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List in October, but recorded 40 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception.

NFL Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday that Peppers is expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers were dealt a blow following their week 1 win over the New York Jets when safety DeShon Elliott was ruled out for several weeks with an MCL sprain.

Peppers becomes the sixth veteran defensive addition to the unit led by defensive coordinator Teryl Smith after Darius Slay, Jalen Ramsey, Malik Harrison, Juan Thornhill, and Brendan Echols.

Jabrill Peppers was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 25th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. After spending two seasons in Ohio, Peppers was dealt to the New York Giants in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade in 2019.

The strong safety joined the Patriots in 2022 and recorded 178 combined tackles, 10 pass breakups, 9 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 1.0 sack in New England.
