Victoria Mboko v Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (21/10/2025)

Bianca Andreescu — who missed most of the North American swing — has played three events in the Asian campaign. The best she could do so far is a modest qualifying win over Tereza Valentova in Wuhan. The former US Open champion is nowhere close to returning to her former self after being marred by injuries in the last few seasons.

In both 2024 and 2025, the Canadian was forced to skip at least the first three months of the calendar year. In the six months since her latest comeback, she has played just a dozen tournaments across all levels, going as far as the quarterfinal in Rosmalen and the fourth round in Rome, and is unlikely to appear in the top 100 anytime soon.

Victoria Mboko is 0-4 since making history in Montreal in early August. The 19-year-old rising star played three tournaments in China over the last few weeks and could not win a set against Anastasia Potapova in Beijing, Ekaterina Alexandrova in Wuhan and Dayana Yastremska in Ningbo, all more experienced players.

While she needs some wins to finish the season on a high, it has been a wonderful 2025 for the youngster. After winning five ITF titles in the first three months of the calendar year, she marched into the third round of Roland-Garros as a qualifier and later won the WTA 1000 title at the National Bank Open as a wildcard.

Head-to-head: 0-0. It is about time for Victoria Mboko to win a set for the first time since upsetting Elena Rybakina and Naomi Osaka in the final two rounds of Montreal. Bianca Andreescu is not the same player who broke into the tour six years ago, but she could be inspired by her quarterfinal finish in Tokyo from last year.
